Glen has always loved working with his hands, observing remarkable things, and figuring out how they work. For him, it has always been a good day if he can build something, discover something fascinating, or repair something in need of fixing. These interests guided him through school and ultimately led to a career as a university cell biologist, where his research focused on hearing and deafness.
Although his years in research science were fulfilling, Glen retired in 2018. His interest in art began much earlier, during high school, when he developed a love for painting and drawing. Throughout most of his life, however, professional and family responsibilities left little time to paint beyond the occasional family portrait.
Now in retirement, Glen has the time and energy to devote to creating art. His artistic approach is grounded in realism. Through each painting, he seeks to better understand his subject, no matter how complex, by studying and capturing its interaction with light. Glen is available for commissions. Email him with your ideas and he will get back to you with pricing and availability.
